Our Missionary Family July 9, 2011

This is Pres. Broadbent with the Chyulu Elders.  We stopped there to pick them up for Zone Conference. Elder Frost was sick, so he brought along his bucket just in case.  Chyulu is very dry & you have to be "Real Men" to serve there & survive!!
Elder Mkhabela is being a Cowboy.  He is from South Africa & is far from a cowboy.  Elder Ayana is from Ethiopia.  Great Missionaries!!

Elder Mkhabela & Elder Ramananaivoarison at Bamburi Branch greeting the guard & member Amisi.  Elder Ramananaivoairison is from Madagascar.  He only spoke French until he entered the MTC.  He is doing so good now.
(Left from Right)  Elder's Chimiba, Mnyakana, Dalling, Abate.  This was the Spagetti Dinner Day.  It was the next dinner we had at our flat that Elder Abate ate so much he came up missing & he was laying on the floor very miserable.  He likes to eat!!
He is from Ethiopia & has been transferred to Busia.  But we enjoyed him while he was with us.
Mombasa Branch baptism at the swimming pool.  This is the group that attended.  Elder Dalling baptised this day.
This is at our flat for DDM  (District Development Meeting)   I handed out their First Aid Kits, so they had a symptom pinned on their backs & they had to guess what it was by asking just "yes" or "no" questions.  I stayed close by just in case there was a temptaion for not adhering to the rules.
This is transfer day at the Coast Bus Station.  We just hate to see our Elders leave.  We want to keep them here.  This day Elder Mnyakana from Port Elizabeth South Africa is getting transferred to Mwansa.  Kenya Immigration is giving the mission many problems with our young elders.  Elder Mnyakana is one that has to leave the country for TZ.  He has about 6 months left on mission.  We wish him well & much success.
This is Elder Phillips & Elder Kariuki.  Phillips is from California & was happy to see the Indian Ocean.  Elder Kariuku is a branch missionary from Nairobi helping us out because we need more missionaries.  We are running short of missionaries right now.  He was happy to see the ocean.  He had never seen an ocean before.

Elder Abate is leaving us too.  He is going to Busia today.  We didn't want him to leave us.  He came over to our flat on Mother's Day to call on our computer to his home.  His mother has passed away, so he called his Branch President for Mother's Day.

Elder Kariuki (Branch Missionary) just received his mission call.  He has been called to Ghana Cape Coast Mission.  He will enter the Ghana MTC on October 28, 2011.  So we have him until transfer day, then he will prepare for his mission, but he has had some great training here in Mombasa & we were happy to have him with us.  He'll be a great missionary!!

This is Elder Chimimba & Elder Ayana at their flat.  I call it the "Pink Palace" because the building is painted pink.  Elder Chimimba will be completing his mission next week.  He lives in Zimbabwe.  So I call him Elder Chim from Zim.  We don't want him to leave.
He said that he would extend as long as we would stay here.  But when we go, he goes.  We have grown to love him.  He said that he remembers meeting us in Eldoret when he first came on mission in 2009.  We were there for the Measles Campaign.  Now we are sending him home to his family.  We hope & pray for a good life for him in his country.  He will certainly be a leader in the gospel in his ward.  He loves Bruce R. McConkie, so we are sending him a frame with "The Caravan Moves On".  Elder Ayana is from Ethiopia & is a quiet giant. They have been District Leaders here in Mombasa & have been great examples for us all.

This is the entire Zone, including the AP"S.  It was Zone Conference in Mombasa Branch.  They all got their First Aid Kits during this activity.  They are wearing their symptom & trying to act out their symptoms.  Sister Broadbent liked this activity, so she's going to do it all over the mission.  After they guessed their symptom, then they had to explain how to treat their symptom.  Pretty interesting answers.  But we all learned along with a whole lot of fun!!
